Jämtland became a Swedish province in the 13 August 1645 after the peace declaration at Brömsebro.
The Swedish government made an extensive effort to make the people at Jämtland feel as Swedes and to trade with Sweden rather than as before  with farmers travelling to trade with Tröndelagen at Levanger and Trondheim in Norway.
A regiment was established.  Civil servicemen of various degrees were appointed. Roads were constructed.  Bridges were built and guest houses were established along the roads which were built in order for mail to be delivered to the various villages.
29 august 1664 a restaurateur and guest house regulation was announced, in order to ensure transport,  lodging and  provision of food for the travelers.
Guest houses should be established every 20 km.  The innkeeper had to provide suitable rooms for the travelers and a stable for at least 24 horses. 
To supervise that the regulation was followed a special guest house inspector was appointed with responsibility to travel around and examine the location and buildings of the guest houses and how they complied with the regulation.
He should also make sure that good and useful linen and bedclothes were at hand, as well as tables, benches, chairs, dishes, table clothes and towels.

If suitable houses were missing help to build houses should be provided.
The village Gärde was burnt down at the fights at Brunflo in the spring 1644 during the Swedish occupation of Jämtland, so new houses had to be built. In Brunflo the homestead Gärde no 2 became the home for the guest house  and the district court.

The estate was during the later part of the 17th century owned by a farmer named Olof Eriksson. Most likely the estate was owned by the same family since the later part of the 16^th century. A man named Erich Olluffssen was referred to as a farmer in the court protocols 1621 and 1643. He was 1643 appointed as a mediator in a dispute about Håkansta in Brunflo.

According to the population register established during the Swedish occupation 1645 he was an owner of the estate together with his wife Karin Erichsdotter. The couple had two children, Olluff and Marete at that time.
Olof Erichsson had a daughter , Karin Olofsdotter, born 1660 who 1690 married Olof Olofsson.  It is not known where he was born, but he was born in 1656.
He after a while became juryman and died in 1715. The widow managed the estate until 1724, the year she in agreement with her other children transferred the estate,  “her earth of birth”, to the son Olof born in 1702.
Olof had in 1723 married Brita Enarsdotter, the daughter of a horseman and farmer at Marieby church grounds named Enar Öfwerman. Together with her he had six children.
Olof Olofsson junior became churchwarden and had in the time of his death 1761 been a praised innkeeper for 28 year.
The district court sessions were at this time often held at the guest houses there sufficient space were available.
The sessions of the Brunflo district court was apparently held at the Gärde guest house. The spaces of the estate were not sufficient, so he expanded in 1749 the building with the so called court hall. This can clearly be seen in an evidence left behind in a form of in a knot cut initials O.O.S together with the year 1749

The last court session held at Gärde guest house was an extra court session the 11 July 1828.
The court session in the fall the same year was according to executed summons held in Grytan, the present Brunflo history house, in the 5 October 1829.
The Gärde estate was owned by the family until the mid 19th century, but was after that no longer owned by the family. The old living house was an offer of vandalism and was on several occasions close to be burnet down.
1912 the wife of the county governor named Ellen Widén noticed the case. By her action the building was bought by the association JÄMTSLÖJD  (handicraft Jämtland) and then the association HEIMBYGDA, that with piety had the house renovated as the first house at the present JAMTLI, the Jämtland open air museum in Östersund.
The family originating from Gärde survived, although it through marriages and moving  were spread and established on various localities and even emigrated to the U.S.A. The emigration from Gärde was however not so extensive as it was from the neighboring villages named Lunne, Hälle and Bodal.
In the year of 1889 the former crofter Per Ersson, born 26 October 1838 with his wife Catharina Olofsdotter, born 4 November 1836 ,  Erik Persons son Olof, born 13 May 1873  and the daughter  Anna Margareta Persdotter,  born 14 February 1875 emigrated to the U.S.A.
1891 the former crofter Anders Gustaf Skog emigrates.
A family society has been established that has their meetings at Jamtli.
In the following family tables that has been established during the 1950:s by the family research specialist Daniel Lindström from Brunflo some of the descendants of the widely ramified family are reported.
